There was JOBsfund open to farmers. we were told that the department of agriculture had approved our project however, this process was stuck at Landbank. now when we go to landbank they tell us that they need the approval from the department because the quotations have changed. This is inevitable becase obviously after over a year, the quotation will change. PLEASE MS MINISTER, TURN AROUND TIME OF YOUR PROCESSES NEED TO BE IMPROVED.

Morning. I am Bridget Tshikalange, GDARD extension officer in Suurman, with 66 subsistance producers. According to Mr Ramashala farmers are not getting enough support from government. They battle with land preparation, to hire a tractor is costly. Infrastructure in place is also not securing their commodities from theft.

Plot 108 JR 440 PORTION 5 allocate to Tallman. They have lease agreement problem and have been in several meetings with the Department of Rural Development. They have been attacked twice by the rivals who want to take the land. The department wrote a letter indicating that the land is not allocated to anyone and the beneficiary have been in the farm for more than 20 years. The beneficiaries have also apply for beneficiary selection to the department since 2016 . They are requesting assistance regarding this issue since without lease agreement there is no support we are receiving.

Hello Minister, I have done applications for borehole since 2019, nothing has been done yet, we are having a challenge of applications for funding taking too long.

It's ridiculous to apply for funding or send an email to the department, and two years later you still haven't heard anything from the department. Extension officers cannot even follow up, yet they are working for the department, they always "don't know". I suggest that the minister develops a tracking system, where every farmer will get a progress report or feedback (whether good or bad news) of their queries. Thank you

We appreciate the commitment of the Honorable Minister to engage with farmers. The challenge is with extension officers which are not empowered to provide the status of the applications, for 3 years applying for assistance from the agriculture regarding irrigation system and the greenhouse tunnels. I was told that my application was approved but to this date nothing coming forth. I think the extension officers they do their part by informing farmers about the agricultural programs, unfortunately it end there. They will always indicate that they are waiting for the head office for feedback. Feedback and transparency is crucial from the department, for instance, how many applications were received for specific input and how many are approved, and how many are rejected and the reasons behind.

That’s a challenge with the lack of funding

are there year training plans for farmers' support from the department as we really need continuos support from our districts and extension officers to train and certificates all programmes/ training offered to the farmers as most have farming experience but dont have any certifications.

I had farmed, installed a borehole, built a storage, houses but the great cost couldn't do was fencing which cost me more on theft when I planted. Minister I need more fencing and more advance dripping system. Access to market I already have and it hurts that I had to let go of 12 employees permanent and 18 temps due to lack of fence and great theft
