Good Morning All, My name if Flubert,1. Does SHPE only target Government Extension or do they implement these Project considering Private Extension collaboration?2. Quantity and Frequency are very crucial in penetrating the market. Small scale famers struggle to cope with these two requirement, especially in Gauteng context.

01:29:04
makgetha@gmail.com

01:29:25
@Flubert , SHEP targets farmers with the extension personnel being in the forefront of the implementation thereof, aggregating needs to be an approach to deploy to ensure consistant supply and maintaining the market access

01:29:40
We applaud the interventions that the government is taking in focusing on agriculture. However, implementation still is a challenge.

As an emerging farmer who still paying of his bond and encounter negative impact of COVID I notice I was rejected funding due to not planting last year and when raising the issue of COVID and stating I needed to also pay off my bond to make sure I do not loss my farm and needed support to plant on crop and fencing of the plot been turned down by government. From this platform how could I be supported to plant and trade?

01:32:07
@Berverly, working together and other strategic partners will assist in ensuring implementation thereof, government remain optimistic to implement is program

01:33:19
Good morning, I'm in Bronkhorstspruit with a state land of about 447 hectares, I hope this program came at the right time, so looking forward to participate fully...🙏

01:33:27
@Anton, does the SHEP program have a set requirement for farmers to adhere to, in order to be assisted/considered?

01:33:33
Example. There was JOBsfund open to farmers. we were told that the department of agriculture had approved our project however, this process was stuck at Landbank. now when we go to landbank they tell us that they need the approval from the department because the quotations have changed. This is inevitable becase obviously after over a year, the quotation will change. PLEASE MS MINISTER, TURN AROUND TIME OF YOUR PROCESSES NEED TO BE IMPROVED.

01:34:31
@Victor, I note your issue is mainly agricultural support in general, kindly lets enagage, mpho.tlape@gauteng.gov.za, 066 488 3056

01:34:33
If I'm already registered on the department database, do I need to register again for this SHEP program?

01:35:20
Extension Advisors are indeed our support as emerging farmers..They need to be empowered immensely

01:36:05
thank you honorable Minister❤

01:36:53
How does one apply to become extention officer?

01:37:17
I am a TUT student and understand the pressure of finding a farm to do work intergrated learning, I have five colleagues who desperately need placement for 12 months majoring in Animal production/livestock

01:37:19
How does one register on the provincial database

01:38:01
But most of us are still without land for farming

01:38:20
Floriculture is usually marginalised in programmes, will it be included in the SHEP programme as its part of horticulture ?

01:38:21
please contact kseloana28@gmail.com if there are any placements available. Thank you

01:38:50
@Abton thank you, I will engage agricultural support. We truly love to farm the land but surely part of the system plays against us such as a mere request of getting a fence

01:52:26
@Lynette Kindly advised which revelant documents do I need to send you

01:53:50
We keep planting and we keep struggling with theft especially if you do not have fencing. The cost you lose farming with no fence its extreme, I am still recovering on the lose I encountered with theft

01:56:28
Is it possible to get seedlings for ginger, cinnamon and garlic and which market can we sell them.

01:56:36
Hi I'm Kenneth Mudau, Extension officer, having plus 10 farmers here with me in Soweto, the question is how does urban farmers can take part in this SHEP programme.

01:56:50
What is latest on the CASP grant for infrastructure, we applied for 21/22 year . We are ready and have increased production with the hope that the department will assist as we are in a frost area during winter. Thx Themba

01:57:28
my name is Nonhlahla Muambo 072 643 9231 a young farmer in Hillside we ask the department to please create a funding platform within the department ,that are specifically focused on women, youth and people living with disabilities or at least fund or even add more budget in the current existing ones.

01:57:35

02:01:11
As a community Development worker in Gauteng in Johannesburg ward 60 , I am in agreement with some of the views that are raised by the farmers. We need to address the responses that are not really satisfying from officials that are on the field to all regions in Gauteng.

02:01:36
My name is Aubrey an extension officer connecting in Bronkhorspruit office. I am with the farmers and one of them (Mr Tallman masilela) situated Rooipoort, potion 5 JR 440.

02:01:44
good morning everyone, I'm Mologadi Malatji from bronkhorstrpruit who wants to start farming. please advice me on how to go about starting with regards to programs, short cources and where I can go to seek more information and mentorship.

02:02:09
Banks or potential funders require contracts in order to consider application. I have found it a mission impossible to secure contracts or even a letter of intent in order move an inch. Hence our project remains unsustainable due to lack of basic infrastructure. Can the SHEP assist in anyway?

02:02:27
My name is Nomsa Selebano 082 436 1268 farmer in Vleikop problem is crime as a single mom with children have more than 5cases reported to the police but no help i'm scared for my life , I have planted maize. doing chickens, wood and feedlot they steal as they like because the police are not helping.

02:04:08

Good day,All protocol observed. Our questions is as follows:We have applied for a lease on the old dumping site in Eersterust Pretoria and have since not had any answer. We are being sent from pillar to post and haven't had any constructive feedback to date. Can we please get a lease on this land? We have undergone a feasibility study in veggies and now that we are basically self taught we need land so that we can start ASAP.We are having a challenge that we might loose our market share as the demand cannot be met at our current production rate.Who is our extension officer in this area so that we can talk to one person only?Thank you

02:08:07
My name is Bontle Mosweusweu 071 707 0019 from Wifontein Randfontein,i would like to ask the Minister to help us women with funds so that we can able to revive our farming activities as we experiencing lot of setback but we don't want to give up as we are passionate on farmimgactivities. Morning. I am Bridget Tshikalange, GDARD extension officer in Suurman, with 66 subsistance producers. According to Mr Ramashala farmers are not getting enough support from government. They battle with land preparation, to hire a tractor is costly. Infrastructure in place is also not securing their commodities from theft.

Plot 108 JR 440 PORTION 5 allocate to Tallman. They have lease agreement problem and have been in several meetings with the Department of Rural Development. They have been attacked twice by the rivals who want to take the land. The department wrote a letter indicating that the land is not allocated to anyone and the beneficiary have been in the farm for more than 20 years. The beneficiaries have also apply for beneficiary selection to the department since 2016 . They are requesting assistance regarding this issue since without lease agreement there is no support we are receiving.

02:17:40
Morning everyone I am Tressa Mofokeng from TOKOLOHONG AGRI VILLAGE ,Hounorable Minister Thoko Didiza and MEC Tau,we have a farm in HEIDELBERG that was donated by our farmers to us we are 290 Households all we need from you Honorables is the assisted on how to start farming on our lanfd

02:18:09
can I kindly get assistance from the department of agriculture.

02:18:22
Hello Minister, I have done applications for borehole since 2019, nothing has been done yet, we are having a challenge of applications for funding taking too long.

02:19:33
It's ridiculous to apply for funding or send an email to the department, and two years later you still haven't heard anything from the department. Extension officers cannot even follow up, yet they are working for the department, they always "don't know". I suggest that the minister develops a tracking system, where every farmer will get a progress report or feedback (whether good or bad news) of their queries. Thank you

02:19:54
Mr Chair,Only selected people can an opportunity to express their views. We are being MUTED by the HOST who do NOT allow us to unmute ourselves. Is this meeting for selected people only or up and coming farmers in South Africa that is born and bred here?

02:20:07
Mr Ramasodi are we going to get response from all questions as we are left with 25mins?

02:20:46
Good Day Minister Thoko Didiza, please help with the Kwamhlanga Poultry Project where the Department spend R27 million in building environmental controlled chicken houses. The project was hijacked by government official friends and children. The government has been conducting an investigation for 3 years with no outcomes? What is happening to the investigation Minister ?

02:21:26
This is exactly the wall that we walk in everytime we engage with government...are we going to be assisted?

02:22:41
@Vusi, yes SHEP do help

02:23:05

02:23:13

We appreciate the commitment of the Honorable Minister to engage with farmers. The challenge is with extension officers which are not empowered to provide the status of the applications, for 3 years applying for assistance from the agriculture regarding irrigation system and the greenhouse tunnels. I was told that my application was approved but to this date nothing coming forth. I think the extension officers they do their part by informing farmers about the agricultural programs, unfortunately it end there. They will always indicate that they are waiting for the head office for feedback. Feedback and transparency is crucial from the department, for instance, how many applications were received for specific input and how many are approved, and how many are rejected and the reasons behind.

Mbali 061 433 8060, mbali1molefe@gmail.comMy challenge I with the current limitations with assisting start-up farmers. We were told by extension officer in Randfontein that the only support that is currently available is with production input only, leaving out assistance of supporting with material for building infrastructure. This leaves out the new entrants while we are still paying for the rent as per lease agreements for the land that we are intending to work on.Kindly allocate resources for assistance.

02:33:08
Matilda, we have followed processes for 6 years now and have all relevetnt documents and started our project with our own funds.and still not receiving anything from government

Masechaba Motloung 0785125799Ezanoxolo CooperativePlot 43 DoornkuilOutstanding applications for fencing and boreholes, we’re doing broiler chickens and the department has just provided us with feed. We’re still waiting for the chickens and without fencing and enough water we will have a challenge to bear good results. The other thing we had to organize our own transport to collect the feed from Sebokeng. We had to make ends meet to ensure that we collect the feed spending R10000,00. That’s a challenge with the lack of funding
