As beekeepers, we to want to participate in SHEP. Market access is a big issue. With that goes a need to upgrade and commercially standardize our beekeeping tools and agroprocessing support. We want to move our beekeepers further down the supply chain so our communities can reap the income benefits and improve living standards. Policy must be developed that make it easier for our black beekeepers to access polination opportunities. Every drop of nectar, propolis, honeydew and pollen must empower our beekeepers in the communities they live. Shep must help. limpopo@beekeeper.co.za

Farmer from Ephraim Mogale, thank you for raising the issue of delayed support to farmers or no support at all. We are farmers In production and it's not fair to expect us going from one office to another following up on our approved applications or deliver thereof.

Can you please share the presentation to snecasfarming88@gmail.com

Colleagues going forward, I think that we need to have a Database of the rainy Seasons in our Provinces monitored nationwide so that assistance from govt can be aligned to the distribution of Services to the Farmers timely

02:59:33
especially during their needy times

02:59:42
Farmer support is a serious problem in Limpopo.

03:00:49
We need to identify where the bottlenecks are as Farmers

03:01:45
is there where we can register as farmers to be able to supply companies like the checkers etc. it is a challenge for us small farmers to break into the bigger markets. we need assistance in this regard.

03:02:10
we really appreciate the support from the government

03:02:42
@thandeka . that's a good question

03:03:21
I feel it would be very helpful to small farmers, if the Department can run regular workshops and information-sharing sessions regarding different funding opportunities. Funding for agriculture is simply not accessible for small farmers.

03:06:22
Thank you Honorable Minister for the informative sessions. the government has lots of programmes which are working but my concern is that it only works for some individuals and NOT for some. It has been more than three decades since we have been farming as commercial farmers, but no matter how much we request support from our own government we don't get any and we huge contracts with the likes of Schoeman Boerdery, Cotton SA, Tiger brand Bio-diesel etc. Can we please have some intervention on this matter. Emmanuel Makuwa from Dennilton Moutse, Ellias Motswaledi

Honourable minister, When it comes to livestock. it will be beneficial to invest more finance and time in establishing rural focused abattoir. that will increase economic participation in the rural areas. as supported by your department rural industrial development policies.

03:15:07
Visiting the Farms is key in the monitoring and evaluation process Colleagues

03:15:25
Can the Department look at the issue where the material providers increase material prices immediately they here the Government is issuing vouchers to farmer. Large suppliers like NTK/VBK did that last year.

03:15:39
Honourable Minister and MEC protocol observed. To be more responsive to the farmers challenges an Agricultural Innovation Systems need be adopted as as entry point where farmers, researchers, markets, Extension services (both public and private sector, institutions of higher learning come together to discuss issues not only at the national but at local spheres. Webinar much appreciated. Looking forward to these platform in future. Phumezile Garane, KZNDARD, UMZIMKHULU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY !

03:16:06
Mr Nowata great work we are here for North West Viva Department of Agriculture

03:16:21
can the pedi vouchers be kept until it's the planting season

03:18:12
Minister the other thing is the assistance with the global gab certificate and the other markets to give us contracts not work with us on a verbal system and the next thing they take somebody else and you don't have the market for your staff.

03:19:16
we are struggling with redeeming pesi vouchers again how does a person with less production get more grant then those with large scale produce get less the department has great initiatives but officials are falling

03:19:24
We have red meat commodity group farmers in Lepelle Nkumpi Grootfontein service center. This farmers kept their livestock in an asbestos area i.e Bewaarskloof and they are doing very well so they have managed to do two boreholes and two grabs and they need our support I.e. fence then the area is not healthy for our lives cause is a risk to go there. So how can we help them? Maybe Honourable MEC can assist with land. lephaimolepo@gmail.com

03:19:25
We are in the Vibrant Potato, Tomato & Butternut producing area of Limpopo (Blouberg Municipality)We are at the Verge of reaching Commercial farming Level.*We kindly need a shared Packaging Facility as well as the Shared Potato Machenization since they are too expensive for us*Also give working resources to our Economists, Extension and Advisory services, so that they can be able to reach Farmers.

03:19:35
Please also enhance the governance over the leases. The previous cycle was prompting the farmers to apply for leases without typical physical inspection which made it difficult for some to even respond. Not knowing the current use, potential and capability of the leased farm. In my view it was rushed and most applied just based on the size.

03:24:13
Giving inputs on the wrong time to farmers for the sake of meeting targets by officials is not appropriate. There might be challenges of bureaucracy in approval process, that might be caused by either business processes or incompetence. It is best to use automation business processes to minimize element of corruption. The automation will address issue of avoiding same farmers receiving inputs or assistance from the government every year while other farmers are not getting same opportunities, etc.

03:26:22
Can we also note that we are running a Business in Farming therefore we also need to do follow ups when we have raised our challenges with the Dept because this is a collaborative process that we are in.

03:27:40
ntate Ramoloko is on point

03:28:00
Morning my name is Basani Tlakula for Ribola Plastics and Nursery in Elim Limpopo-an aquaponics farmer and trainer in plant production in aquaponics/hydroponics. We have been trying to partner with the Department in this regard for some time now. Many officials have come to our facility in Elim to show our system but nothing further.

03:28:28
From FABCo we highly appreciate this Platform created by the Minister.

03:28:46
As Ephraim Mogale farmers we are experiencing the following issues: 1. Lack of resources to debush our lands 2. Difficulties around accessing Water Use Licences 3. Inability of our Extension Officers to travel because of budget cuts (They are not able to travel and share the scarce available government vehicles) 4. Highly inflated PESI prices from the service providers disadvantaging us 5. Inclusion of infrastructure such as fencing, boreholes, tractors etc in the farmer support programs.

03:28:55
We also need to realize that apartheid has taken a new face hence our animals are discriminated upon. That is the apartheid of our day

03:30:27
Perhaps create a platform to send question post this webinar , and you can sort the questions and create a freqeuntly asked questions or even use for further engagements and extension support

03:30:33
we also need intervention on watering implements we cant always get fertilizer seeds and chemical people on the ground needs jojo tanks drips

03:31:26
How often are we going to have such interventions as it should be ongoing

03:31:49
The Leadership. The time allocated for the Webinar is not enough. may it be extended next time to 3/4 hours. Thanking you.

03:33:24
Who does one contact with regards partnership in training in aquaponics/hydroponic . I am also a member of the Thulamela Business Forum with over 200 farmers . Who do we contact with regards the Shep initiative for our members?

To Minister Please get in touch with me concerning a point made by Mr Ramaloko especially Research side on Companies in South Africa my fear is one of our African indigenous Crop Sorghum (Mabele) which is 5th Biggest crop around the Globe is dying slowly but surely. I don't want elaborate a lot here. Please get in contact I have with this Crop for 31 years

03:34:01
Incompetence in key positions is an issue because there is lack of appropriate decision making, and that is a risk. Key positions must be given based on qualifications, and officials should be trained now and then to empower them in the area of their work in order to respond to challenges around them.

Honorable Minister: there are lot of farmers who produce but their commodities end up in the dust bin because access of the market is a challenge. May Honorable Minister must appoint task team from different provinces or municipality or district to identify the challenges that farmers face, each province or municipality or district might have different challenges, research in those areas can be helpful if we want to address food security in the country.

" Highly inflated PESI prices from the service providers disadvantaging us" as raised by one speaker. The +/- 30% charge on PESI is a concern seeking clarity for farmers. It could be how it was structured but public will not know unless clarified, hence questions of why the charge exist, worth clarifying. Matlou CGCSA

For example in Zebediela traditional authority they need R4000 per ha. to have a PTO and I think is unfair. Please help. mjlechelele@gmail.com

Farming needs passion , dedication and perseverance. 3. Farming is not a Get rich quick Tender system. 4 Avoid expensive Lavish cars that don't Regenerate money/income. 5. Learn to spend Money on your own farming Business.

Thank you Minister for making time for us and this initiative. I am into Intergrated Aquaculture and the business requires a lot of funds to get it up and running. Land Aquaculture is doable in Limpopo and we need financial support to go commercial. We would like to get technical support from our local DALRRD offices. We feel that Aquaculture is over regulated and that makes it difficult for us to move forward. May u please consider assisting Aquaculture projecrs with funds for environmental compliances.
