FAO in Geneva: On the Road to the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15): - Tuesday, 22 November 2022, 10:00 to 11:30 CET
On the Road to the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15):
Why the engagement of the agrifood sectors will be critical to the success of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework

FAO in Geneva, in close collaboration with the FAO Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment in Rome (OCB), is organizing a hybrid briefing on the upcoming UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15). As several objectives of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) are closely linked to agriculture and food security, active engagement of the agrifood sectors will be critical to the successful adoption of the post-2020 GBF. The meeting aims to raise awareness among Permanent Missions in Geneva on the links between agrifood systems and biodiversity, FAO’s work on biodiversity and the importance of agriculture in the negotiations at COP15. It will contribute to the mobilization of key stakeholders ahead of the negotiations, particularly for finalizing the Post-2020 GBF and its Monitoring Framework and reaching an agreement on soil biodiversity.
